About the data
Where FarmyPoint’s information comes from and how reliable it is.
Pharmacies and parapharmacies
The list comes from the open data of the Italian Ministry of Health (Pharmacies and Parapharmacies dataset), 16 Oct 2026 release. Only active businesses are shown. Names and addresses are those published by the Ministry, with formal corrections (accented letters, capitalisation) and, for some places, of the position on the map.
The vending machine
There is no public list of pharmacy vending machines. That is why every place has a status: “not verified” until someone reports it, “reported” when a moderator has accepted a user's report (valid for six months without new confirmations), and “confirmed” when the pharmacy registers it. Always check on site before you go. A confirmed vending machine must be checked again at least every 90 days (by the pharmacy or by FarmyPoint): after that, the page says “needs re-checking”. The pharmacy can also declare it out of service until a given date.
Products, prices and availability
Products in the vending machines are added by pharmacies registered and verified by FarmyPoint. Price and availability are those stated by the pharmacy, with the date of the last update: they are not real-time. Products not reconfirmed for more than 90 days are not shown. The catalogue excludes all medicines, which cannot be sold in vending machines.
Filters, freshness and sorting
Filters (cards, order pick-up, phone, open 24/7) only use what the pharmacy has stated. The label next to each product shows when the pharmacy last confirmed price and availability: today, yesterday, in the last 7 or 30 days, or “to be checked” (31 to 90 days; after 90 days the product is no longer shown). Results are sorted by distance by default. “Best price” starts from the lowest price among the products found; “Most recently updated” from the latest confirmation; “Most reliable” considers the status of the vending machine (confirmed by the pharmacy), how recent the last confirmation is, and reports from the last 30 days received after that confirmation (machine missing, out of order, wrong data): reports verified by moderators weigh more, rejected ones do not count. No pharmacy can pay to appear higher.
Location on the map
For many places the Ministry gives the town centre as coordinates instead of the address. These places appear in the list marked “approximate location”, but not on the map or in distance searches until the location is corrected.
The “Near me” search
Your location is only requested when you tap “Near me”, and only with your permission. It is rounded to about 100 metres, used to calculate distances and then forgotten: we don't store it in the database, logs, cookies or browser storage, it never appears in the page address or in shared links, and we don't send it to any other service. We don't use it for advertising or profiling. You can always search by town or postcode without it. To show the map, your browser downloads the data for the area on screen, as with any map, from our own server or from OpenFreeMap (servers in the European Union): the service sees the area, not your location.
Reports
User reports are checked before the data is changed. We do not ask for or store personal data: of the IP address we only keep a non-reversible code, to limit abuse. Only for reports from “I saw a vending machine” we also keep, for a limited time, the phone's location and the photo if you send one (details in the privacy notice).
Anonymous statistics
To improve the service and show pharmacies how many people find them, we anonymously count product searches, visits to pages, requests for directions, taps on the pharmacy phone number, activations of “Near me” and “Search this area” (with the chosen radius) and shares (with the type of page). We only store what was searched and daily totals: no IP address, no precise location (for “near me” searches only the municipality of the nearest pharmacy), no tracking cookies.
Messages
If you write to us with the “Contact” form, we keep the type of contact, your name if given, email and message only to reply, for at most 12 months. Of the IP address we keep only a non-reversible code, to limit abuse.
